Transient angle-closure glaucoma after retinal vein occlusion. Report of two cases.

چکیده
Glaucoma may be a contributory factor in the aetiology of retinal vein occlusion or may result from this condition. When glaucoma occurs secondary to retinal vein occlusion, it is usually considered to be due to vascularization of the anterior chamber angle and closure of the angle by goniosynechiae (Duke-Elder and Dobree, I967; Ballantyne and Michaelson, 1970). The two cases of retinal vein occlusion reported below exhibited marked shallowing of the anterior chamber, pupillary block, and transient angle-closure glaucoma, without vascularization of the angle.

Association of primary glaucomas with retinal vein occlusion.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To determine the association of Primary glaucoma with retinal vein occlusion. METHODOLOGY A prospective cross-sectional study was carried out in B.P. Koirala Lions Centre for Ophthalmic Studies from April 2002-July 2003. All diagnosed cases of retinal vein occlusion were evaluated in detail for the presence of primary glaucoma. Detailed history was taken. Best corrected vi...
متن کاملNeovascular glaucoma after central retinal vein occlusion in pre-existing glaucoma
BACKGROUND To determine the outcome of central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) in pre-existing glaucoma and the predisposing factors of developing neovascular glaucoma (NVG). METHODS We retrospectively assessed a pre-existing glaucoma CRVO group and a non-glaucoma CRVO group to elucidate the demographics, clinical course and ocular parameters of these two cohorts. Among the pre-existing glaucom...
متن کاملA cute angle closure attack after an intravitreal bevacizumab injection for branch retinal vein occlusion: a case report
BACKGROUND Intravitreal injection is widely used to treat retinal vein occlusion, and acute angle closure (AAC) is an exceptional complication of intravitreal injection. The authors report a case of AAC that occurred immediately after administering intravitreal bevacizumab to treat branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). CASE PRESENTATION A 65-year-old woman was referred to the retina clinic of...
متن کاملPseudo Exfoliation Syndrome : An identifiable cause of Open Angle Glaucoma
Pseudo exfoliation syndrome (XFS) is an age-related, generalized disorder of the extracellular matrix characterized by the production and progressive accumulation of an abnormal fibrillar extracellular material in many ocular tissues and is the most common identifiable cause of openangle glaucoma worldwide. Exfoliation syndrome plays an etiologic role in open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glauc...
متن کاملBilateral retinal vein occlusion and rubeosis irides: lessons to learn.
Uncontrolled hypertension is well- known to give rise to systemic complications involving multiple central organs. Artherosclerosis leads to damage of the retinal vessels wall, contributing to venous stasis, thrombosis and finally, occlusion. Retinal vein occlusions compromise vision through development of ischaemic maculopathy, macular oedema, and rubeotic glaucoma. Laser photocoagulation rema...
